The Top 15 Electric Cars

 


 

Electric cars have been around with us since the nineteenth century and were at the forefront of the automobile revolution before gasoline-powered internal combustion engine sporting cars came to dominate the world for more than a century. That unfortunately played a large role in the environmental catastrophe that the world now faces. But the emphatic return of electric cars as a viable personal transportation option has turned the clock back and we are not really very far from the day when electric cars will replace fossil fuel-burning and environment-degrading ICE (Internal combustion engine) sporting ones.

While electric cars may have made it to mass production only recently, there have been quite a few highly successful electric cars over the years, some of whom have achieved iconic status. Let us get a lowdown on the top 15 all-time favorite electric cars (in no particular order).

 

1.      Nissan Leaf

The Nissan Leaf has the unique distinction of having been the best-selling electric car of all time (in the year 2019). That’s all thanks to its practical design and affordable price. Global sales of Nissan Leaf vehicles were more than 600,000 units by the middle of 2022, more than 12 years after the first model was launched way back in 2010. The car has a range of up to 212 miles on a single charge.

The iconic Tesla Model S helped reimagine electric cars.  This luxury sedan was instrumental in making EVs mainstream and is one of the best-selling EVs of all time. Considered the best electric car ever made by many, it boasts a range of up to 400 miles on a single charge and is capable of doing 0 to 60 mph in a mere 2.3 seconds.

Known for its path-breaking design this stylish eco-friendly car boasts an up to 177 to 193-mile range on a single charge. The car sure does catch people’s eye thanks to its unique looks that include a futuristic interior and a carbon fiber construction. It accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in 7.3 seconds.

4.      Chevrolet Bolt

The Chevrolet Bolt has achieved great popularity on account of its practical features which include plenty of interior space and a very affordable price. Providing a range of up to 259 miles on a single charge, this is the car for those looking to make the change to an EV without having to bankrupt themselves in the process. The car can get from 0 to 60 mph in an impressive 6.4 seconds.

5.      Ford Mustang Mach-E

The Mach-E happens to be Ford’s very first all-electric SUV. Boasting a range of up to 224 to 312 miles on a single charge. Its unique design pays homage to the iconic and classic Ford Mustang, making it quite a rage for many. It accelerates from 0 to 60 mph speed in 5.1 seconds.

The Porsche Taycan happens to be one of the most high-performance electric cars in the world. Boasting a range of up to 227 miles and a top speed of 161 mph, it sure does help raise the adrenalin.

8.      Audi eTron

 

The Audi eTron, as one might expect, is a luxurious electric SUV boasting a range of up to 222 miles and a quick charging system. When put into Sport mode, the car can produce as much as 402 horsepower, albeit only for a moment.[1]

9.      Hyundai Kona Electric

When it comes to practical electric cars, the Hyundai Kona Electric with its 258-mile range is quite popular. It is quite an efficient EV but puts up a spirited performance that reminds one of its popular gasoline-powered counterparts.

The Renault Zoe is a much-awarded electric car that boasts a range of up to 239 miles. It offers optional CCS rapid charging, which makes it quite the car to drive over long distances.

Known for providing a fabulous driving experience, the car has a minimalist interior design that makes it look quite premium as well as modern. It is the smallest and the least expensive of the Tesla cars. The base model boasts a 272 to 358- mile range.

 

13. Mercedes Benz EQ

The Mercedes Benz EQS is an electric luxury sedan par excellent which as is to be expected from the German car maker boasts great performance, build quality and technology. It boasts an impressive driving range of up to 350 miles.

 

14. Tesla Model X

The Tesla Model X is a luxury electric SUV that boasts falcon wing doors and an up to 348- and 371-mile range. It can achieve a top speed of 155 miles an hour and go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 2,5 seconds.

15. Tesla Roadster

 The Tesla Roadster is a high-performance electric sports car boasting a top speed of more than 250 miles per hour. Its range is a very impressive up to 620 miles. The vehicle is a four-seater all-wheel drive sports car and boasts a 250 miles per hour top speed and it does 0 to 60 miles per hour in 60 seconds.
